When you write an email to introduce yourself, it can be formal or informal. It all depends on who you are writing to. Formal emails have longer sentences, do not contain contractions, and use non-colloquial language. Informal emails have shorter sentences, use contractions and contain colloquial language.

When I was a child, I would/used to sometimes go to work with my dad. He would/used to be a travelling salesman, and we would/used to drive hundreds of miles each day in the car for meetings in different parts of the country. You might think it was boring for me as a young child, but I would/used to love it. I would/used to go into the meetings with my dad, and sit there quietly drawing a picture or reading a comic. And the people in the meetings were always nice to me. They would/used to play with me or tell me jokes. I also spent a lot of time with my dad, and I have good memories of that. On the day I used to start/started school and couldn't go with him any more, I used to be/was really sad.

Finally, after years of waiting, fans are in for a real treat when they watch this fi lm. Without wanting to give too much away, I can say that Luke Skywalker has gone missing and the baddies are in control of the galaxy. For those who saw the previous fi lms, there are lots of familiar faces and there are a few new ones, too. Overall , this is a great fi lm with some fantastic special e ects and spectacular scenes that will impress, especially if you get to see it in 3D.

On Wednesday I studied all night for my science exam. I knew I would be able to answer all the questions and I was feeling confi dent. We use fi xed expressions to start and end emails which are di erent depending on if the email is formal or informal. For example, Dear Mr Brown is formal but Hi Jim is informal.
