Test Your English Vocabulary In Use, Upper-intermediate, McCarthy M., O'Dell F., 2002.

   This book provides a series of tests on different aspects of English vocabulary at an upper-intermediate level. It is based on the vocabulary presented and practised in the units of English Vocabulary in Use: upper-intermediate. There are references in the contents pages and in each test to show you which unit or units each test is based on. In a few cases vocabulary items are included which have not been presented in English Vocabulary in Use and, when this happens, the instructions for the exercise suggest that you may use a dictionary if you wish. You can, of course, use these tests even if you have not been working with English Vocabulary in Use but are simply interested in assessing your knowledge of the vocabulary area covered by the test.

Tree or Three, An elementary pronunciation course, Baker A., 1982.

   This is a pronunciation course for beginner and elementary students of English. It provides practice in the pronunciation of English sounds, word stress and intonation through a wide variety of interesting exercises and activities.
The course is carefully graded both lexically and structurally to allow teachers to link the material with other course work. Suggested teaching methods as well as additional practice material can be found in the Teacher’s Guide.
The book is accompanied by a recording of all the practice material on two cassettes, which arc designed for use both in class and by students working alone.

English Idioms in Use, Advanced, O’Dell F., McCarthy M., 2010.

   It was written to help you take your knowledge of idioms to a more advanced level. The ability to use idioms accurately and appropriately is an indicator that you have a truly advanced level of English, and so this book pays attention to the productive use of idioms as well as to the comprehension of their meaning. Many of you will have already worked with English Idioms in Use Intermediate, and this book builds on the work done there. However, it does not matter if you have gained your knowledge of idioms in a different way. We do not assume that you have used English Idioms in Use Intermediate, although we do present and practise different idioms from those that were presented in the lower-level book.
