Tanya Streeter grew up on Grand Cayman Island in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. When she was a child, she loved being in the sea and she spent as much time as possible in the water, snorkelling and studying fish and other sea life. She also liked diving deep down into the ocean to look for rocks and shells. Tanya had a natural love of diving and, one day, she discovered a sport she could do.

The A and В tests.

There are two versions (A and B) of each File test and the End-of-course test, except the Speaking tests, which are designed for students to do in pairs. To prevent students from copying each other, make sure that a student with an A test is sitting next to a student with а В test. The two tests cover exactly the same material, but the questions have been changed and reorganized to make it almost impossible for students to copy answers. If copying isn't a problem with your class, you can just use the A tests. The skills tests include KET-type exercises which reflect the format of the KET exam.

My name’s Carmen Garcia and I’m a student at King’s School, which is a language school in Glasgow. I’m Spanish, from Madrid, but my mother is French. She’s a teacher in Madrid. The students at King’s School are from many different countries. I’m in a class which has students from Japan, Mexico, Germany, and Italy. It’s really interesting to meet so many different people. The director of the school is British, but my teacher is American. She’s from New York and her name’s Helen. She’s very nice and she’s an excellent teacher. Her classes are always great fun. Jose and Karl are probably my best friends in the class. Jose is from Mexico and Karl is from Berlin, in Germany. We always speak English together because that’s the best way to learn.

   Oxford Heroes is a three-level course for young teenagers which takes them from beginner to intermediate level.
Each level provides approximately 70-80 hours of core teaching material and 10 hours of optional material.
Oxford Heroes aims to train students to communicate accurately and fluently in English by giving them a solid grounding in grammar and vocabulary and providing extensive practice of the four skills.

Grammar.

The grammar column provides clear explanation and controlled practice of the new structures presented in the reading text. New tenses are usually presented in full tables. The practice exercises are carefully graded in terms of difficulty, and aim to provide initial practice in class. You can find consolidation exercises in the Workbook. The grammar (and vocabulary) in lesson 1 is followed by skills work. The particular skills focused on vary from lesson to lesson, but there will usually be two of the following three skills: listening, speaking and writing.
